SFinUS23 Feb 22 Day1
Well we had the day from hell yesterday - almost the week in fact. Bags packed, boarding passes printed, one last errand for me and I ge back and Ted tells me he feels awful and has tested positive for C19! So into my act figuring it how to cancel, rejig the trip to Florida to say with Margaret in FortMyers, at the bottom of Florida. Got something for a week later.
He got on the phone quickly and got approved for the C19busting drug Paxlovid and was back to normal by the time we flew. We didn’t test for C19 again, I had sniffle midweek and it went!
So WE ARE HERE IN PARADISE!!! Bloody miracle. We had to check in at 430am - can you imagine me checking in at that hour??? After lovely weather for weeks, a storm came through Calgary Monday night before our flight Tuesday morning at 6:50am. We booked into the airport hotel and managed to get seats together for both flights to get to Florida. I slept!
But we then had to go through Minneapolis - somewhere in the middle of the States in nowhereland. They had a storm coming through with 2 feet of snow for today! Schools and everything were to be closed, everything closing down. We had 2 hours to change planes, then heard our plane was experiencing mechanical problems so looking for a new plane and crew. We knew if we got stuck there yesterday we were gonna be there for days! So we just sat and asked the gods to look down on us. We took off on time, full plane, and arrived here in paradise at 5pm on time.
Margaret has a lovely apartment on the ground floor of a nice complex with a pond, huge banyan tree and park - and pool just across the small internal road. She greeted us with a nice light supper and we collapsed into bed very early.
Oh no! Glad to hear that Ted recovered quickly.
